Oates’ Worm Snake Material Examined : Description & Scalation : Head same width as body; breadth of rostral 1/4th that of head; eye very distinct, in the ocular shield. Snout rounded, strongly projecting; nasals nearly completely divided; ocular and preocular longer than the posterior nasal. Scales small, smooth in 24 rows round the body, the diameter of which is contained 32 times in the total length; tail short, blunt ending in a small spine. Coloration : Redish-brown above, with black confluent, longitudinal lines. Natural History : Not much known. Spends most of its life underground, active after rains. Feeds on small insects and ants.
