Yellow-Striped Kukri Snake Material Examined : Description & Scalation : Body cylindrical; head short, not distinct from neck; body slender; eye moderate, with round pupil. Rostral large, well visible from above; 1 loreal; Scales smooth, in 17 rows; supralabials 6 ( 3rd and 4th in contact with the eye ); infralabials 7; ventrals 180-190, angulate laterally; subcaudals 46-57, paired. Coloration : Uniform dark or light brown above, with distinct or indistinct narrow yellow or whitish longitudinal stripes, a vertebral and 3 lateral. Underside dark brown, with white outer edges. Lip scales creamish. Head with typical markings seen on most kukri snakes. Natural History : Poorly known. Nocturnal in its habits. Nothing is known about its feeding habits and breeding biology. Distribution - India : Endemic to Central Nicobar group of Islands, recorded from following Islands – Nancowry, Katchal, Trinkat, Bompoka, Tarasa and Chowra.
